Mum buys £24 gift for son from Temu and is left fuming when it arrives

A woman was far from impressed after she bought a gift for her son from Temu and opened it to uncover a major error. Emma Hutton spent £24 on a football with Ronaldo written on it for her son’s tenth birthday earlier this year as he is ‘obsessed’ with the footballer.

However, when it arrived she immediately saw that it had ‘Ponaldo’ emblazoned on it instead. The mum, from Sheffield, was left feeling so disappointed that she threw the ball to her family dogto 'destroy'.

She explained in a video on TikTok that the football came up as a sponsored advert while she was browsing the online marketplace. The mum included a photo of what it was supposed to look like, contrasted with a photo of the ball she actually received.

Emma told The Mirror she was “gutted” because she knew how much her son would have loved it. But thankfully, she saw the funny side to the incident and now refers to Cristiano Ronaldo as ‘Ponaldo’ whenever her son speaks about him.

She added: “Stupidly, I threw the ball to the dog to destroy as I definitely wasn’t going to give it [to] my son as a gift, but then I thought no, I actually want a refund. But let’s hope Temu doesn’t want it returning because the dog had already destroyed it.

“Luckily I sent photos to Temu refund request and they refunded [it] immediately without the need to return.”

The south Yorkshire mum told her son when he came back from school that day that she had ordered him a potential birthday gift but it didn’t quite turn out as expected.

She then showed him the black and white ‘Ponaldo’ football and he “found it hilarious.”

This was Emma's first time ordering something from Temu, but it hasn’t put her off making further purchases. She praised the company because of how quickly they solved the issue with a full refund.

Emma’s TikTok video has garnered 126,800 views, more than 1,000 likes and close to 400 comments.

Several users couldn’t help but find the situation funny as one said: “I’m so sorry but this is hilarious.”

Another added: “Oh I’m sorry but it’s proper tickled me.” A third commented: “Sorry I’m cracking up.”

Others shared that they have always had good experiences with Temu. A fan of the online marketplace remarked: “Aw I swear by Temu. I’ve only gotten good items there.”

A second chimed in: “I’ve ordered 100s of stuff and it’s been great. I even ordered a 5 level shelving unit and for the price I thought it would be rubbish. It’s wooden and HUGE and amazing. Exactly what I needed.”

A spokesperson for Temu said: "We want to thank Emma for placing the order. She was given a refund and we hope to have the opportunity to serve her again in the future.
